Stability

An office chair mounted on a five-arm undercarriage and casters, the material of which corresponds to the type of floor on which the chair is to be used, is commonly available today. Chairs mounted on glides are also beginning to appear on the market. Conference chairs are either four-legged or designed as so called “spring chairs”.

Anatomically shaped seat

It must be wide and deep enough and you should fully use the seat depth while seated. At its front part the seat must be rounded. The backrest should continually support our back over its full length. Backrest adjustable in height should be adjusted so that its dished part provides support to the spine in the lumbar zone.

The backrest should permanently copy the back

The angle between the backrest and seat should not be less than 90 degrees even in the most frequently used front position. Only then any load to the respiratory and digestive system as well as the heart and vessels can be avoided.

Seat height adjustment

It must enable us to change the seat level so that the feet can fully touch the floor with the knee joints bent 90 degrees.

Adjustable armrests, preferably with optional lateral movement

Multifunctional hand-rests, which are adjustable in width, depth and height as well as in a radial direction, provide maximum comfort for the user.

Central spring

Every chair should be furnished with this. It should absorb shocks caused by sitting down swiftly as well as all other movement of our body.

Heavy-duty upholstering

or other type of cover. It must be adequate to the frequency of use and the environment, in which we want to use the chair. Most essential physical properties are the resistance to wear and “pilling “, colourfastness, as well as fire resistance, if required.

Chair mechanism components are a special interest chapter:

Healthy or so called dynamic sitting enabling us to be in a permanent motion can be achieved using chairs provided with a synchronous action mechanism, which automatically adapts the back and seat rests to the motion of our bodies. Such seating protects our bodies from becoming stiff. It can reduce static load and fatigue to our back muscles and promote their activation and relaxation. It may be the most useful to consider carefully the choice of a specific type of chair so that it suits the specific nature of its anticipated use.
